Visit the Municipal Palace of Valladolid

This is one of the Must see places in Valladolid. Visit the Municipal Palace to discover a little of the history of Valladolid. There’s a tour to visit the place, which usually takes about 40 minutes, and where you can learn some interesting facts about this emblematic building.

Built in the 16th century and remodeled in 1846, this building has housed the municipality's administration for many years. But in the past the building belonged to a family, and it also housed a secondary school during the 19th century. It currently houses the Municipal Library and the House of Culture.

Visit the Municipal Palace of Valladolid and see the murals

This building is certainly the container for the history of this Heroic City.

One of the first tourist attractions that you cannot miss in Valladolid is to visit the murals that are inside the Municipal Palace.

Admission is free and the room where these paintings are located has beautiful balconies that will allow you a great view of the Main Park "Francisco Canton Rosado" and the Cathedral of San Servacio.

You can enjoy these paintings by the author Manuel Lizama, and also see the photos of the majors who have governed the municipality for more than a century.

You can visit at least 5 museums in Valladolid and the Palace is one of them. If you plan to stay a few days in this destination, my recommendation is that you visit this and another couple of museums such as San Roque to learn the history of a colonial city surviving to that time of the conquest.

Walk through the center of Valladolid

Visit the Municipal Palace of Valladolid with your family and then you can continue to get to know the downtown area. Using VallaMapa you can find several attractions around the city and close to the Main Square, as well as other attractions such as restaurants and souvenir shops.

But if you want a more local experience, just walk around the main square and enjoy the many delicious things you can find, such as marquesitas, coconut ice cream and sweet corn (esquites).
